SEMINAR 'INEQUALITIES', Winter 2019/20

The objective of the seminar is to give an overview of some selected inequalities in analysis and how - at least in some cases - such inequalities give rise to far-reaching geometric consequences.

The seminar is geared toward 3rd year Bachelor degree students and Master students. Specifically, the talks may lead to thesis topics both for Bachelor's and Master's degrees. If interested, feel free to contact me via e-mail!

A first organisational meeting will take place on July 16, 2019, from 10-11 am in lecture hall SR 0.011.

The schedule for the seminar - including further information and literature references - is available here:

In the following paper, I collect some background results from measure theory and functional analysis to be encountered during the seminar. In case you have any suggestions on what should be additionally included, please let me know.

Each speaker is required to produce an overview paper, containing some motivation, main results and the core ideas of the proofs. Eventually, I would like to collect all the handouts and produce a seminar booklet. A nice option (in which the final booklet shall be prepared) is given by the ArsClassica Template, available here:

If you are not familiar with LaTex, you can directly compile the file via Overleaf (to do so, just scroll down in the webpage linked above). An elementary introduction to LaTex is, e.g., available here:
